The web is information, dialogue & participation
The first and second generation of the web was information, i.e. the owner of the web page delivered information to the person seeking the information.
Today, the web gives us an opportunity for dialogue, i.e. we not only provide information, but we can also listen to the thoughts, questions and opinions of our visitors.
Participation - a key concept
Good communication with users often requires them to feel involved. Especially if regular visits are desirable. It is also not easy to create participation. Some key concepts are
- Ask the users
- Make sure what you have is actionable
- Provide feedback
- Make it easy to use
- Be concise and relevant
- Engage the user
The modern web is built on participation.
